Rounding Up 2025 Interior Design Highlights: The Year in Style
As 2025 draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the interior design trends, innovations, and inspirations that defined the year. From bold colour palettes to sustainable design, 2025 has been a year of creativity, comfort, and forward-thinking interiors. Here’s my roundup of the top interior design highlights that captured the hearts of homeowners and designers alike.
1. Sustainable & Conscious Design
Sustainability continued to dominate interiors in 2025. Homeowners increasingly embraced eco-friendly materials and ethical practices:
Reclaimed & Natural Materials: Wooden furniture, bamboo, and recycled metals added warmth while supporting sustainability. I tend to use Facebook Marketplace to find materials or furniture to upcycle - repaint, reupholster or simply find gems. I found some amazing Staffordshire dog statues recently at a local fair!
Eco-Friendly Fabrics: Linen, organic cotton, and plant-based textiles became the go-to choices for upholstery and soft furnishings.
Timeless Design: Investing in long-lasting pieces replaced fast décor, making homes feel curated and responsible. I get a lot of antiques from auction sites - my local favourite in Hampshire is Pump House in Wickham , Ebay, https://www.vinterior.co.uk (this is incredible).
Sustainable interiors didn’t just look beautiful—they reflected a conscious lifestyle.
2. Bold Colours & Maximalist Flair
While minimalism still had its place, 2025 saw a resurgence of bold colours and maximalist interiors which is MUCH more my flavour:
Rich, Moody Palettes: Deep greens, navy blues, burnt oranges, and jewel tones transformed spaces into luxurious retreats.
Statement Walls & Artwork: Large-scale murals, textured wallpapers, and vibrant art pieces became focal points. I just discovered https://www.artiologie.co.uk. An excellent website for affordable art.
Layered Textures: Cushions, patterned rugs, and mixed materials created depth and visual interest. Katy Takla’s inspiring use of fabric crossing is really one to watch out for!
This trend proved that comfort and extravagance can coexist beautifully.
3. Curves and Organic Shapes
2025 embraced soft lines and flowing forms in furniture and décor:
Curved Sofas & Chairs: Comfortable yet stylish, perfect for creating intimate seating areas. Note that upholstered patterned stripes with intricate detail was used by many designers to embellish the style of the room. Nels Croiswaite Eyre is great source of inspiration!
Round Tables & Mirrors: I have always been a fan of adding harmony and movement to rooms - the use of mirrors really makes them feel larger and more spacious.
Organic Accessories: Sculptural vases, ceramics, and lighting enhanced natural aesthetics; I have sourced some seriously cool vases and ceramics from Vinted this year! One of my best friends Katy Bell is amazing at hand painted lamps which are not over burdening to a room. They bring joy and life but are not too heavy.
Curved furniture and accessories helped interiors feel approachable, human, and tactile.
4. Multifunctional Spaces & Smart Design
With home life evolving, multifunctional spaces were essential:
Convertible Furniture: Modular sofas, fold-out desks, and smart storage became lifestyle necessities. Note the use of smart joinery to create built in cubby holes.
Tech Integration: Smart lighting, climate control, and home automation enhanced convenience and luxury.
Flexible Rooms: Spaces designed to serve multiple purposes, from work-from-home areas to guest accommodations.
Functionality met style, making homes adaptable for modern life.
5. Biophilic Interiors
Nature-inspired design continued to thrive in 2025:
Indoor Plants: Statement greenery and vertical gardens brought life to interiors.
Natural Light & Ventilation: Large windows, skylights, and reflective surfaces maximized daylight.
Earthy Textures: Wood, stone, and natural fibers added warmth and grounding elements.
Biophilic design brought calm, wellness, and vitality to everyday living spaces.
For some serious inspiration check out the founder of nature lead architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright.
6. Luxe Details & Metallic Finishes
Luxury was all about the details in 2025:
Metallic Accents: Gold, brass, and bronze in lighting, hardware, and accessories elevated interiors.
High-End Finishes: Marble, lacquered surfaces, and polished stone created sophistication.
Statement Lighting: Chandeliers and sculptural lamps became key focal points.
Even small touches of luxury made interiors feel curated and high-end.
Devol is always one to go to for inspiration; even if you end up having to go elsewhere to find a steal!
Final Thoughts
2025 was a year of contrasts—bold yet comfortable, modern yet natural, sustainable yet luxurious. As we step into 2026, these trends will continue to influence interior design, evolving with new ideas and innovations.
